What is Mental Health?
We all have mental health. Many people experience stress from the normal ups and downs of life and for some people these symptoms are more severe. When conditions are more severe, they are referred to as mental illness and include depression, schizophrenia, anxiety and others which may require treatment and support.
At Active Minds we help students, their families, and communities understand that mental illness is common and that recovery is possible. Because mental illnesses are widely misunderstood, people often hide their conditions from friends, coworkers, and loved ones to avoid embarrassing questions or reactions. Active Minds helps make those conversations easier through education and awareness. Remember, you are not alone and there are many resources available that most people don’t know about.
Reach out to those around you with compassion, empathy and understanding and never be afraid to ask for help.
