Active Minds is deeply saddened by the passing of Peter Deibler, better known as “Kane,” to his radio listeners.
Kane, for many, was a regular voice on their morning commutes, bringing humor to the early morning hours. His passion for radio began in high school, and his career led him in many directions, becoming the voice of various stations including, “The Kane Show,” which he began hosting in 2006.
What some may not know is that Kane was deeply devoted to the cause of mental health advocacy. His long-standing support of Active Minds supported holistic well-being for young adults through our programs, initiatives, and education. In his passing, his family asked that this legacy continues through his community, requesting memorial contributions in his name to forward the work of changing the conversation about mental health. Kane’s presence will be greatly missed by all that knew him in real life and through the radio waves. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and many listeners.
If you or someone you know is struggling, be it through grief or any other mental health struggle, help is always available. Our friends at the Crisis Text Line and the Lifeline are ready to listen. Text “BRAVE” to 741-741 or call 1-800-273-8255 to speak to a trained crisis counselor. You are not alone.
