With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we thought it would be a good time to check in. This time of the year — filled with talks of going home to visit family and favorite Thanksgiving foods or traditions — can mean a million different things, depending on who you’re speaking with.
Whether you are feeling positive, negative, or something in between at this time of year, we wanted to know how YOU were feeling this season and learn more about the various experiences people have during this time of year. We asked on Instagram, and you shared that you are experiencing a wide range of emotions right now!
Sad | Appreciative | Tired |
Worried | Loved | Excited |
Grateful | Exhausted | Stressed |
Whether about one thing or another, nearly everyone we heard from was feeling at least a little anxious
With all these different feelings at play, grounding yourself in what is important is essential. In the face of challenges and difficult moments, we often find strength in words — be it a quote, a mantra, or a piece of wisdom from someone we admire. We asked the community, what affirmation keeps you going through tough times?
The responses were heartfelt and inspiring.
Some people shared that they turned to God or scripture for support. Others reminded themselves, “I am not alone; I am surrounded by love.” One shared they took solstice in the fact that it took billions of years of evolution to create the beauty of you.
Some preserve through challenging feelings by understanding that “This emotion is temporary,” or that it won’t be like this always. Others remind themselves, “I’ve made it through things. And I will again.” We often, as one person put it, are “more capable than [we] let [ourselves] believe.”
Reflecting on these words can remind us that we have the tools to navigate difficult times, just as we have in the past. Whether it’s a mantra to rely on during moments of struggle or a reminder to maintain perspective, these phrases serve as a powerful reminder that no matter what form the future takes, it’ll be okay.
This time of the year can be tough on us all, and we all have the ability to help create community support. Have you asked a loved one how they are feeling lately? This might be the perfect opportunity to share some love and encouragement. And don’t forget to give yourself a little kindness too! Remember how strong you are — YOU have weathered every storm that life has brought you so far, and you can do it again. Let’s embrace this time together, and ALL the feelings that Thanksgiving may bring, together!
