Lilian Garcia-Herrera

Lilian is a first-generation Latina with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work. Born in El Salvador, but raised in Maryland, she is a DMV local who has always felt connected to DC and its abundance of culture. Upon graduating from Bowie State University, she worked her way up from intern to an assistant director role at a local crisis center advocating for suicide prevention, connecting with the homeless population through the county’s shelter programs, and bringing domestic violence awareness and resources to the Latine population. Lilian’s career path shifted into human resources to further expand her operational skills and work more closely with the efforts to interview, train, and onboard new staff into organizations like Active Minds that have a passion for mental health advocacy and mobilization on a macro-level.

Lilian is a fluent Spanish-speaker and can often be found exploring new restaurants in the city with friends, spending quality time with her family, and taking tons of pictures of everything that catches her eye!
