Support will equip youth and young adults with the skills, relationships, and resilience to lead mental health advocacy in their schools and communities

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Active Minds, the nation’s leading nonprofit mobilizing youth and young adults to change the culture around mental health so that it is valued and prioritized in society, announced today that it has received a $150,000 signature grant from the AE Foundation – the philanthropic arm of the American Eagle brand – to support its National Chapter Network. The investment will help Active Minds expand the training, resources, and hands-on support available to student leaders across the country.

Active Minds Chapters are student-led groups in high schools and on college campuses. Chapter members work with peers and school partners to identify local mental health needs, connect students with resources, and create more supportive school communities.

With support from the AE Foundation, Active Minds Chapters nationwide will equip youth and young adults to advance solutions that address mental health needs in their schools and communities, engage their peers, and collaborate with school and campus partners to drive lasting social change.

“Youth and young adults have always been the heart of Active Minds. They know what their communities need, and when we give them the tools and support to lead, they change what’s possible for mental health in their schools,” said Alison Malmon, Founder and Executive director of Active Minds. “We’re grateful to the AE Foundation for investing in youth and young adults leadership and helping us strengthen our National Chapter Network so more students can help shape a society that forever values and prioritizes mental health.”

“Prioritizing youth mental health is at the core of the AE Foundation’s mission, and real progress happens when students have the tools to drive change,” explained Marcie Eberhart, Senior Director, Foundation and Corporate Philanthropy, AEO Inc. “We’re proud to support Active Minds and help equip young adults with the skills, relationships and resilience needed to lead effective mental health advocacy.”

Active Minds’ National Chapter Network includes over 500+ chapters across 48 states and Puerto Rico. Through their Chapters, students bring mental health conversations, advocacy, and community-building activities to their schools.
