Your Voice is Your Power

Equipping mental health champions in schools & communities

The Your Voice is Your Power Resource Hub equips youth and young adults in the Active Minds network with tools, resources, and knowledge to champion mental health and drive change for oneself as well as at the school and community levels.

The resources are divided into three key topics to advocate for mental health. Each resource category will provide you with tips, tools, knowledge, and skills to lead and advocate for mental health change.

Self-Advocacy

Resources to help you advocate for your personal mental health needs. These self-advocacy tools and resources will equip you to support and prioritize your own mental health as you advocate for collective mental health change.

School Advocacy

Resources to help you in your advocacy efforts at your school. These advocacy tools and resources will give you and your peers what you need to ensure that your school culture and climate support everyone’s mental health — both inside and outside the classroom.

Community Advocacy

Resources to help you in your advocacy efforts in your community. These community advocacy tools and resources will give you what you need to advocate for mental health awareness within your community and social justice movements.

What is mental health advocacy?

Mental health advocacy encompasses any actions taken to support mental health. This can include raising awareness, educating others, and driving change. Youth and young adults have made clear that the most pressing mental health-related issues today include addressing racial justice, having equitable access to culturally responsive mental health care, advocating for youth-centered mental health school boards, changing local and state policies, and ensuring schools have LGBTQ+ inclusive mental health and sexual health curriculum.
